As you prepare for your dental experience in Costa Rica, please use this checklist to get you started.
- Make sure that your passport is valid for travel. It should be valid for a minimum of 6 months after your departure.
- Check the weather and pack appropriate clothing. Pack for cool temperatures inside the dental clinic.
- Pack enough medication for your entire trip. It's important to pack extra medication in case your dental care takes longer than expected.
- Medications should be left in original containers with clear labels.
- Learn about the medical services your health insurance will cover while in Costa Rica.
- Pack your medical insurance policy identity cards along with your identification.
- In case of an accident, complete the information page on the inside of your passport providing the name, address, and telephone number of someone to be contacted in case of an emergency.
- If you have pre-existing medical conditions, bring a letter from your physician that describes the medical condition and any prescription medications, including the generic name of prescribed medications.
- Have the contact information for your embassy or consulate in Costa Rica. of where you are going. Consular personnel are available for emergency assistance 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
